My name is Jackie Belau. I have been a doula for over 8 years and have attended around 150 births. I also have a son of my own. Most of my experience has been at The Birth Center in Sacramento, but I am comfortable in hospitals as well. Regardless of where moms birth, we work during pregnancy to figure out how to get moms the birth experience they desire. My mission is to provide information and labor support for parents no matter what their ideal birth looks like. My goal is to provide expectant parents with all of the information they need to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and the delivery of their child. I will also advocate for those parents and strive to have their decisions be upheld throughout the pregnancy and birth of their child. I serve the entire Sacramento valley and surrounding foothills, and take only one to two births each month to ensure that I am available for all of my clients.

Description of Meetings
This meeting is provided free of charge, so that we may meet and discuss your ideal birth and my services. I will leave you with a packet of information about my services, and give you time to decide if you would like to choose me as your doula. If so, we will set up the first prenatal meeting.
1st Prenatal Meeting
In this meeting we will really get to know each other and we will discuss your ideal birth and start to lay out a birth plan, which is a list of things you would like to happen during your childbirth experience and things you do not want to happen. We can discuss any concerns or questions you may have. And I will leave you with more information so that you may make an informed decision about your upcoming childbirth.
2nd Prenatal Meeting
In this meeting we will finalize your birth plan. Also we will be focusing on relaxation techniques that we can perform during your labor to keep you as comfortable as possible, such as: breathing techniques, vocalization, massage, hydrotherapy, different positions to keep you comfortable throughout your labor, and other relaxation techniques. I will be working with the pregnant woman and your partner, so that they feel included in the process, and know that they can be a valuable part of the experience.
The Birth Itself
I give full labor support during the birth itself. When you first start feeling contractions, I ask that you call me and let me know. This way I can check in with you and see how you are progressing. I can be in contact by phone or text, also, when you feel that you need me to be there, I will come to your side, even in the middle of the night. I will stay with you and support you through the entire birth of your child and 1 or 2 hours afterwards to be sure that you and the baby are settled in. I will also be there to support you with the first breastfeeding of your child, if you wish.
I will meet with you about 1 week after you have given birth to make sure that all is going smoothly and to answer any questions you may have. You may also feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.
Please feel free to contact me and schedule your FREE Consultation.
